MoRun Race Report
It looked liked it was going to be a cold and wet day for this year’s MoRun, but in the end it was just cold. Setup to help the Movember foundation raise money for men’s health issues, there was a good Swifts turnout of around 15 or so runners, all sporting spiffing ‘taches, some real, some not so, but a mighty handsome bunch nonetheless.
After a HeMan inspired warmup, we all lined up shivering and ready to run the 10k race around Sutton Park, with rumour spreading of a hill known as “Cardiac Hill” to test us on our two laps. The usual Swifts race followed – Jad leaping off into the distance trying to catchup with Olympic triathlete Jodie Stimpson (he was only a few minutes slower than her and finished a fantastic 8th!), closely followed by Alan (finishing in 12th place overall), then some old geezer from WW1 leading the remaining rag-tag fugitive fleet home. A lovely Moustache medal was handed out, but saddly not much in the way of goody bags at this run (like nothing, nada, rien)!
But the fun didn’t end there as a good contingent went off to the Station pub in Sutton Coldfield for the post race lunch organised by Swifts Social “You WILL have fun” co-ordinator Alan – with a reserved table and a warm pint right by the real fire you couldn’t ask for much more. And as for the evening MoSocial starting in the Fox, well after about the 5th shot I’m afraid I no longer have any recollection of the rest of the evening, but I’m sure there was absolutely no embarrassing dancing and no hangover whatsoever.
