Younger people.

We are an inclusive running club and aim to offer a safe space for runners of all ages, genders and sexualities, however some restrictions apply:

Sadly, we do not have trained leaders or insurance for runners below the age of 12yrs.  Junior parkrun held in various parks on a Sunday morning will be able to support you and some of our members volunteer at this event locally in Cannon Hill park.

From 12-16yrs we ask that runners bring along a responsible adult to run with them. Ideally a parent or guardian or someone who has their permission to bring you along.

From 16-18yrs, runners should bring along their adult to run with them or written permission from them to run with us without guardian present.

We recommend you can run 5k non-stop before joining our Thursday evening social run. Importantly though, pace is not important. No one will ever be left behind and a run leader will always be at the back of the group run, supporting our slower runners.

If you’ve not run before, you can always join one of our LGBT+ Starting Out groups, based on the nationally recognised Couch to 5K (C25K) programme.  If you are unable to make it to one of our Starting Out groups, Birmingham Wellbeing  can link you to other free Run Birmingham hosted Couch to 5k (C25k) programmes and Active Parks activities to get you moving.

Our post-run social is usually held at The Fox on Lower Essex St from 8:30pm on Thursday evenings.  Andy, the manager welcomes families and adult accompanied under 18’s in his well-tended beer garden to socialise with our other members and chat.

We would like to host a younger persons runners group should this be of interest to our LGBT+ community, at a time to suit and with a post-run social in a non-bar environment. If you would be willing to support this as a run leader (funding provided for training) or be a participant, let us know and we will see what we can arrange.
