The Birmingham Swifts are organised by a committee and are voted for by members each year at the AGM. Any full member of the group can put themselves forward for nomination.
At this year’s AGM the members voted for the following committee.
Chair – Jay
Jay will be coordinating the team, running things behind the scenes and representing us as appropriate at formal and informal meetings and events related to the club. I’m a point of contact for new members and hope to focus the committee to work on your behalf to grow the club. I’ve been a part of the club for around four years, two of which I was club secretary and I’ve also been a run leader for three years.

Secretary – Mark
Mark is our club secretary. He’s been running with the Swifts most Thursdays for the past year and his beard and enthusiasm have also been visible at a number of races and events. He will be keeping the committee in check and organising the committee meetings, agendas, minutes and membership information.

Treasurer – Ian
Ian took on the role of Treasurer this year and with his accountancy background we have high hopes he will balance the books increasingly efficiently. Ian recently joined the ranks of run leaders and has a favourite cool down stretching routine you’re sure to love.

Race Secretary – David
David was keen to take on the role of Race Secretary and has been throwing ideas at the committee since the AGM. Expect our race calendar to include both regular favourites and new surprises in the coming year.

Welfare – Maddie
Maddie agreed to take on the Welfare secretary role after tying for the role of secretary with Mark. We’re really pleased to be able to have both on committee as the membership clearly wanted Maddie to join our ranks and I know how important the welfare role is to members. Maddie has achieved some amazing feats as a runner, not least was Birmingham Marathon last year!

Promotion – Alex
Alex returns to committee reprising his role of Promotions Secretary. Alex branded us all in club colours in the 2016/17 season and is back with new ideas which you should already have spotted on our Facebook and Twitter pages. He will also keep the website in shape and hopefully add new features over the next year. Alex has been running with the club for several years and is usually the one drinking tea at the social events.
