Hello Swifties!

It goes without saying that 2020 has been quite unique in its challenges. However, it has given us the opportunity to show our resilience as a club and our supportiveness of each other. Click here to view the full newsletter!
Although unable to run as a whole group as we usually would, this hasn’t stopped that sense of community that comes from being a Swift. I had concerns when the initial lockdown began: would people return to running or would momentum be lost?  Through quizzes, smaller group runs, virtual challenges shared on social media and even a ‘Virtual Fox’, we have managed to stay connected to each other, and I have been thrilled with the number of members that have safely returned to our smaller group runs. All made possible from a sterling job by the run leaders, ensuring that the guidelines are followed to maintain a Covid safe environment.

Having taken over as Chair just 2 weeks before the first lockdown, this has been a baptism of fire. Many of the plans that I had for my first few months were put on hold, but it has been great to see the club has come together and unify under difficult circumstances.

When looking to the future, experience of this year has taught me not to plan too far ahead, but we must stay positive and hopefully we will all be together soon… who knows there may even be races to look forward to, and dare I say it, even socials?!

For now, I focus on the near future. I hope that we can find opportunities to run as a club safely this winter and start the new year with the joy and positivity I have come to associate with our club.

Be safe, be kind, be Swifts.

Holly, Chair
